What to expect ?

Gabriel Island, the heritage of Mauritian fishermen.

L’Îlot Gabriel is located 11 kilometers north of Cap-Malheureux, a small fishing village at the northernmost tip of Mauritius, and just 750 meters from Île Plate. Îlot Gabriel was formerly known as Petite Île Plate. In fact, fishermen in the north of the island still call it Petite Île Plate. It covers an area of 42 hectares.

Unlike Île Plate, Îlot Gabriel is truly flat, with a highest point of just 28 metres.

I

A marine reserve

Compared with its big sister, Île Plate, Îlot Gabriel is a natural marine reserve, but has less flora and vegetation. With its white sand and warm sea, Îlot Gabriel sounds like an invitation to snorkel or sunbathe.

II

A view of the other islands

Snorkeling is superb and accessible just a few meters from the shore. There’s a trail for walkers that leads south to Gabriel Island and ends to the east, where you can admire Île Ronde and Serpent Island.

III

View of the target area

On the way back, the yacht will stop off in the small Coin de Mire bay, where you can discover the exhilarating sensations of snorkeling in a place that’s obviously dreamed of.
